It's Official...

My in-laws are certifiable bible thumping lunatics went down for the much anticipated "August 19th sit-down" with the in-laws, StepSpawn, her mother and stepfather, Jim and myself about an ambush...

Grandpa started the show with the old "let's let the past stay there and focus on the future" bullshit and proceeded to instruct StepSpawn on how to attack all of her parents for all the wrong we've done to her the past, obviously, since she hasn't been around any of us for a month...

I immediately opened my mouth (weird, I know) and said I didn't think it was right that we had to sit and take her accusations, but we weren't allowed to pipe up on the things she's done to create upheaval in our lives? Grandpa proceeded to tell me that I was "intimidating" StepSpawn, and she wouldn't talk now, Christ!

So I got up and said, "I'm leaving, now she can talk." and went to my truck to text my BFF on all the happenings. Jim came out and asked me to please join them so we looked like a united front (which we are) so I came back and listened to StepSpawn attack her mother for a good 20 minutes, citing that she sneaks out at night because her mother doesn't spend enough time with her. In the middle of the night, apparently, StepSpawn needs some attention, and since her mother has to work and sleeps at night, she has to run around town with delinquents? That just doesn't seem right.

BTIL busted out the bible talk, and I was trying not to choke all the mouthful of blood I had from biting my tongue it came time for StepSpawn to tell us her issues, the first thing out of her mouth was that she didn't think she should live with us, I'm thinking, great, now we can leave, right? Wrong. Apparently the grandparents have brainwashed her, every one but us knew that she would ultimately stay with them, but we had to jump thru hoops telling StepSpawn in front of everyone what we would change were she to come back and live with us.

Pointless, since that isn't going to happen. On the one hand, I'm glad she's not coming here, I don't want to have to worry about her running away, sneaking out, lying, smoking pot, etc. On the other hand, I feel bad for Jim, he says he's waited 14 years for her to come and live with him, and we got 16 months the other other hand, I also didn't want the Out-laws to get their way, selfish, I know, but I cannot stand them anymore, and they are going to hit us up for money all the time now we are back down to a 2 kid household (mine) and Jim has his guitar studio back, and all is quiet around here...Which is actually kinda nice, for a change...
