Step-Spawn Drama

Apparently StepSpawn (15 year old stepdaughter) called Jim today and told him that her and her mother and grandmother (Jim's stepmother) have decided to let StepSpawn move back to California and try to be good.

Okay, is it just me, or are we good enough parents that when the going gets rough send the out of control teenager to live with us, and after a year and a half of raising her, trying to make a mature responsible young lady out of her, doing everything we could possibly think of to get her on the right track with her life, etc...But once she fucks up here, we have absolutely no say whatsoever and they just jerk her away from us??????

Bullshit.

That's what I say, you (a 15 YEAR OLD! Her mother, and grandmother) get to make all sorts of decisions about what to do with her, and then INFORM us what is going to happen???? Don't ask us to help with her then take away all of our parental rights cause she screwed us over, too!!

I'm sorry, you weren't doing any better raising her a year and a half ago, now she's older, wiser, sneakier, and you think that letting her come back to the environment that fucked her up in the first place is the right thing to do??

Well, let me tell you something...This house does NOT have a revolving door, if you want to move out, stay out. If you want to steal our kid, don't ask us to take her back when she kicks your ass emotionally, verbally, steals from you, runs away and has you not sleeping for 2 nights sick with worry wondering where she is, if she's dead, pregnant, on drugs, God only knows, k? I've been through all of that with her, and frankly, I'm not stable enough to take it anymore.

I feel horrible for Jim, he looks like someone ran over his dog, although being a man does not express his feelings. I don't care WHO you are, daughter or not, I don't like watching my husband suffer because you are so selfish and cruel that you can't give a shit about anyone but yourself. I realize we were all 15 at some point, but I can't imagine being so wrapped up in myself that I didn't give a rat's ass who I hurt to get my way. I will tell you this kid is sweet as an angel when A)you are spending money on her; B)she wants something from you; or C)she's sneaking around, lying, stealing, and she thinks she's getting away with it.

She definitely has the potential to be an outstanding individual, but if everybody caters to her, it won't happen.

I wash my hands.
