Getting into Heaven...

I wonder if there really is some "club" you must join to get into Heaven. My in-laws think so, they call it "Christianity" and if you aren't a member of said club, do not pass go, go straight to hell! I wonder if there is a God, and if so, isn't he/she supposed to love all his/her children? Not just the ones that have joined the "club"? If you are basically a good moral human being, can't you go to heaven anyway, or do you have to be "baptized" into this exclusive gathering of people? The majority of self proclaimed "Christians" I know are unforgiving, inflexible when it comes to others beliefs, judgmental, and push their thoughts onto you unsolicited. If this is what I have to become in order to go to Heaven, no thank you, I'll pass and take my chances. I've been thinking about Buddhism, but I really think that organized religion is just a way to justify not accepting others, and thinking you are better than everyone else, and if that's the case, aren't we all better off being individuals, thinking what we think, believing what we believe, and practicing whatever our own values, whatever they may be? Maybe this IS hell, and after we have trudged through this life, we are generously rewarded with Heaven? That is what some of my friends believe, and it sounds pretty accurate to me.
