Friend Drama
I have this friend, I'll call her "Pirate"...anyway, she has this totally K-Fed type on-again-off-again boyfriend, we'll call him...DB, for Dirtbag.
So Pirate and DB have been together for a number of years, from what I can tell a very drama-ridden relationship...a few months ago, maybe even a year ago Pirate discovered a hotel receipt in DB's wallet, or some such thing, and basically deduced that he was a cheating whore.
She confronted him, he made up some lame excuse about paying for it for a friend, and although deep in her heart she knew he was lying, she chose to be in denial about the whole thing.
Flash forward a few months, she has a heart to heart with one of his best friends, who tells her it's true, so she breaks up with him...
DB moves out...
Pirate starts to move on with her life, starts seeing this wonderful boy we'll call "Potpourri"...
Well, DB gets wind of Pirate seeing other people (person) and all of a sudden decides he's madly in love with Pirate, and wants to change and work things out and be a better boyfriend, yadda yadda...
So she lets him in, but still punishing him, not being very nice, etc...
Potpourri is now pretty much outta the picture (sweetest boy ever, sad) and she's continuing to claim that her and DB are not together, although he's pretty much moved back in, etc.
Halloween party weekend, 2005. BSOH, DB, and Pirate go to a party. Pirate gets so wasted that DB has to put her to bed when they get home, and BSOH is drunk and on the couch.
DB comes out to the couch and starts flirting with BSOH, will leave out the details, but BSOH made a not-so-great decision and blew the DB. DB wasn't putting up a fight, needless to say, and let me clarify- DB and BSOH are both of the male persuasion, although BSOH is completely out of the closet, DB isn't, in fact, nobody even knew he had tendencies at this point I believe.
BSOH calls me the next day, feeling bad, tells me the whole sordid tale, and I tell him to please tell Pirate, she needs to know that her BF is a Dirtbag, and maybe this will wake her up once and for all.
He feels guilty, does not want to hurt Pirate, so he keeps mum. So yesterday, it's eating him up inside, he and Pirate have become good friends, and he's feeling terrible about the whole situation, so he calls Pirate and leaves her a voicemail. Probably not the way I would've approached it, but it's done.
Pirate calls back and says is this some kind of Joke?? BSOH tells her no, it's true. Pirate is understandably shaken, wants to know details (as girls often do) and says bye. A few hours later BSOH's phone rings, it's Pirates number on the caller ID. He answers, it's DB.
Tells BSOH that none of that happened, BSOH must be on meth or something?!?
What???
So he's obviously denying the whole sordid ordeal, and I'm hoping Pirate finally gives him the boot, once and for all.
Today is Pirate's Birthday, and I hope she is making a fresh start for her new year.
I love BSOH, and we've all made some shitty decisions when it comes to drinking and whatnot, and I'm hoping he doesn't blame himself completely for this, because there were 2 people involved in the act, and it's not his fault entirely. He shouldn't feel soley responsible for hurting Pirate, DB should, since he was/is her boyfriend, he's the one that cheated.
So, Pirate, please drop the Dirtbag once and for all...
BSOH, don't be too hard on yourself, at least you came clean, you, me, and Pirate's sister "LungFung" (her name, I didn't pick it!) all know that this is for the best, and even if she never speaks to you again (which she will) you did her a favor by telling her what DB is really like.

Hey, I like Lungfung!! Anyway, we've all made mistakes, and everything happens for a reason, right? I really believe that, and hopefully this all works out for the best. I am friends with both of them, as you are, and I agree that BSOH did a shitty thing, period. If it was a girl, you're right, we'd probably kick her ass!! Pirate will be fine, eventually, and DB will still be DB. BSOH will still be our friend, I don't know if their friendship can be saved, but who knows? We'll see what happens in the future...
